MONTREAL - Environment Canada says a tornado struck a community northwest of Montreal last night.
The agency says a low-scale F-1 twister touched down in St. Benoit, in the Mirabel area, causing heavy property damage.
Environment Canada meteorologist Rene Heroux says debris is scattered all over the area and seems to have travelled a long distance.
About a dozen buildings in the area suffered significant damage, including farms, homes and a small church.
There have been no reports of injuries.
