Italy to host US in friendly next month in Genoa

ROME (AP) -Italy has announced it will host the United States in a friendly next month.

The match is scheduled for Feb. 29 at the Luigi Ferraris stadium in Genoa, which was chosen to support the city and surrounding Liguria region after it was devastated by flash floods and mudslides two months ago.

The Italian football federation had already announced a ?300,000 ($380,000) fund to help families of the victims.

Italy has eight wins and three draws in 11 matches against the United States, with 36 goals scored and four allowed. They last met at the 2009 Confederations Cup, when New Jersey-born Italy forward Giuseppe Rossi scored twice in a 3-1 win.

Italy is warming up for a difficult European Championship group featuring defending champion Spain, Ireland and Croatia.

Sony Keeps Concepts Alive At CES 2012

Today at Sony's CES 2012 press conference, the company unveiled several PC concepts that are, well, just concepts. Kazuo Hirai took to the massive Sony stage deep within the Las Vegas Convention center and talked about the convergence of TV and computers. But no one cares about that marketing nonsense. It was the concepts they flashed on the screen that got everyone excited. But don't expect these products to hit the market. Companies are not supposed to sell concepts. They're concepts, not products.

Did The Situation Admit 'Jersey Shore' Is Scripted? (VIDEO)

Now that "Jersey Shore" is in the midst of its fifth season and the show's tidal wave of absurd popularity has crested, TV viewers have started to wonder what happens behind the scenes of the simultaneously beloved and reviled reality show.

One question fans have continuously asked since the show went to Italy is whether some of The Situation's drama-creating antics -- particularly his obsession with his alleged off-season hook-up with Snooki -- were scripted attempts to create juicy storylines. In an interview on "Live! With Kelly" (weekdays on ABC) The Situation came pretty close to admitting that at least some of "Jersey Shore" is staged.

After guest host Boomer Esiason felt up The Situation's infamous Situation (a.k.a. his abs), the two joked that the reality star had them insured, which is where the conversation got interesting. Talking about the insurance company, The Situation said, "I had to tell them that whatever they see on TV was a little, uh, ya know ..." before trailing off. "Staged!" Kelly Ripa interjected. "Yeah," he replied, before quickly clarifying that he was only "joking." Unfortunately, before Ripa could ask any follow-up questions, Esiason sidetracked the conversation by marveling at the amount of gel The Situation had in his hair.

Still, the exchange raises questions about the way "Jersey Shore" is filmed and produced. Late in 2011, blogger Sean Klitzner posted a video of a Deena-Snooki bar brawl in Italy, citing evidence at the producer had instigated it. Was the massive brawl between Ronnie, The Situation and the wall choreographed like a WWF match? It remains unclear for now, but the next time we see a flying bottle whiz past The Situation's head, we'll be wondering if a producer threw it.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The Sacramento Kings overcame a 21-point halftime deficit last night to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 103-100. Tyreke Evans finished with 26 points for the Kings, who earned the victory just hours after the team fired coach Paul Westphal. Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings led all scorers with 31 points.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Bucks center Andrew Bogut missed his second straight game yesterday because of undisclosed personal reasons. Bogut was again replaced in the starting lineup by Drew Gooden. It's unclear when the 7-foot Australian center will return.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin running back Montee Ball is coming back for his senior season. Ball announced his decision yesterday and said NFL evaluators told him he'd likely be a third-round pick in April's draft. Ball scored 39 touchdowns this season, tying Barry Sanders' NCAA record.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) -- KK Houser scored 17 points last night to help No. 18 Purdue beat Wisconsin 63-52. Sam Ostarello and Antionette Howard added 12 points apiece for the Boilermakers, who won their sixth straight game. Anya Covington tied a career high with 19 points for the Badgers.
