SALT LAKE CITY ? A local boy will be among the thousands of people descending on Pasadena, Calif., for the annual Tournament of Roses Parade, but he won?t be just another face in the crowd.
13-year-old Hunter Woodhall is one of two international patient ambassadors for Shriner?s Hospital for Children this year.
?They put my name in for a selective process and went through the selective process and I was lucky to be one of the two chosen,? Hunter said.
Hunter was born with a lower limb deficiency and doctors had to amputate both of his legs. Shriner?s Hospital in Salt Lake City fitted Hunter with artificial legs and taught him how to walk, run and even play competitive sports.
Hunter has spent the last year traveling the country sharing his story, and now he?s heading to Pasadena and the Tournament of Roses Parade.
?First we?re going to help decorate the float. I?ll have some media events to talk to the media then we?ll go on the float and then we?ll have the game and then we?ll have dinner with some of the higher up people,? Hunter said.
Hunter says he?s gotten comfortable with public speaking and might pursue it someday, but for now, he?s just happy being a kid.
?People are always telling me what I do inspires them to do better at what they do,? Hunter said.
Hunter will be riding on the float titled ?Helping Kids Live Their Dreams.?

JERUSALEM (AP) ? Israel's former foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman was formally indicted on Sunday on charges of breach of trust and fraud, allegations that could hurt his political future if he is convicted.
Lieberman resigned his Cabinet post earlier this month after he was informed of the pending charges, though he denies any wrongdoing and remains a member of parliament.
He is accused of trying to advance the career of a former diplomat after the envoy relayed information to him about a criminal investigation into his business dealings.
The ministry released the text of Lieberman's indictment on breach of trust and fraud charges two weeks ago in order to lift his diplomatic immunity. It added details to the indictment on Thursday after receiving testimony that suggested he was more deeply involved than previously known in trying to promote the diplomat. The actual charges, filed in a Jerusalem court on Sunday, remained unchanged.
The diplomat, former ambassador to Belarus Zeev Ben-Aryeh, reached a plea bargain with the state in the case earlier this year.
The indictment did not address the main suspicions against Lieberman that had been the focus of a years-long investigation. Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein ultimately decided that prosecutors did not have a strong enough case to charge Lieberman with illicitly receiving millions of dollars from businessmen and laundering the cash through straw companies in eastern Europe.
While he was charged with lesser offenses, Lieberman's political future could be compromised if the court that hears the case decides to convict him of a crime that carries what is known in Israeli law as "moral turpitude." Lawmakers convicted of such crimes must resign immediately from parliament, then are barred from re-entering politics for seven years.
Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu party is running on a joint list with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud in the Jan. 22 election, and he is expected to be re-elected to parliament. Political commentators had viewed the hookup as grooming him to become a future prime minister. Lieberman takes a hard line on concessions to the Palestinians and perceives Israel's large Arab minority as a threat to the Jewish state.
In other political news, Israel's Supreme Court unanimously rejected an election committee's attempt to disqualify an Arab lawmaker from running for parliament again next month because she took part in a flotilla that tried to breach Israel's naval blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.
The lawmaker, Hanin Zoabi, enraged many Israelis by joining the Turkish-led Mavi Marmara flotilla, which was stormed by Israeli naval commandos who clashed with pro-Palestinian activists, killing nine. The Israeli military says the soldiers acted in self-defense after being attacked on the deck.
Zoabi was nearly assaulted in parliament by another lawmaker and subsequently was stripped of some of her parliamentary privileges.
Earlier this month, an Israeli elections committee voted to disqualify her from running in next months' election. She appealed that decision to the Supreme Court, which overturned it, as it has rejected the committee's attempts in previous years to bar certain Arab candidates from running.
Lawmaker Danny Danon, who collected thousands of signatures demanding that Zoabi's candidacy be disqualified, accused the court of "backing the Marmara terrorist rather than naval commando fighters."
The court said in its ruling that it would release its reason for overturning the decision at a later date. Under Israel's election law, the court had to issue its ruling by Sunday.

The van was driving down the middle of the Zhaojun Bridge at around 10:00 when strong wave pushed the van back about one meter. It was fortunate that no one on the van itself was injured, and that the two people crossing in the bridge were not injured seriously.
"I was driving when I saw the rocks falling ahead. Then my van was pushed about one meter back by the splash. It was like the earthquake, and tsunami," said Liu Maoqing, the van's driver.
The mountain of the landslide itself was 500 meters away from the Zhaojun Bridge, and the volume of the rocks that fell was more than 10,000 cubic meters.
According to the reconnaissance by technical personnel of local Land and Resources Bureau, the landslide was caused by long-term physical weathering.
The traffic on Zhaojun Bridge has resumed.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate leaders groped for a last-minute compromise Saturday to avoid middle-class tax increases and possibly prevent deep spending cuts at the dawn of the new year as President Barack Obama warned that failure could mean a "self-inflicted wound to the economy."
Obama chastised lawmakers in his weekly radio and Internet address for waiting until the last minute to try and avoid a "fiscal cliff," yet said there was still time for an agreement. "We cannot let Washington politics get in the way of America's progress," he said as the hurry-up negotiations unfolded.
Senate Republicans said they were ready to compromise. "Divided government is a good time to solve hard problems_and in the next few days, leaders in Washington have an important responsibility to work together and do just that," said Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri, delivering his party's weekly address.
Even so, there was no guarantee of success.
In a blunt challenge to Republicans, Obama said that barring a bipartisan agreement, he expected both houses to vote on his own proposal to block tax increases on all but the wealthy and simultaneously preserve expiring unemployment benefits.
Political calculations mattered as much as deep-seated differences over the issues, as divided government struggled with its first big challenge since the November elections.
Speaker John Boehner remained at arms-length, juggling a desire to avoid the fiscal cliff with his goal of winning another new term as speaker when a new Congress convenes next Thursday. Any compromise legislation is certain to include higher tax rates on the wealthy, and the House GOP rank and file rejected the idea when Boehner presented it as part of a final attempt to strike a more sweeping agreement with Obama.
Yet lawmakers have until the new Congress convenes to pass any compromise, and even the calendar mattered. Democrats said they had been told House Republicans might reject a deal until after Jan. 1, to avoid a vote to raise taxes before they had technically gone up and then vote to cut taxes after they had risen.
Nor was any taxpayer likely to feel any adverse impact if legislation is signed and passed into law in the first two or three days of 2013 instead of the final hours of 2012.
Gone was the talk of a grand bargain of spending cuts and additional tax revenue in which the two parties would agree to slash deficits by trillions of dollars over a decade.
Now negotiators had a more cramped goal of preventing additional damage to the economy in the form of higher taxes across the board ? with some families facing increases measured in the thousands of dollars ? as well as cuts aimed at the Pentagon and hundreds of domestic programs.
Republicans said they were willing to bow to Obama's call for higher taxes on the wealthy as part of a deal to prevent them from rising on those less well-off.
Democrats said Obama was sticking to his campaign call for tax increases above $250,000 in annual income, even though he said in recent negotiations he said he could accept $400,000.
There were indications from Republicans that estate taxes might hold more significance for them than the possibility of higher rates on income.
One senior Republican, Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, said late Friday he was "totally dead set" against Obama's estate tax proposal, and as if to reinforce the point, Blunt mentioned the issue before any other in his broadcast remarks. "Small businesses and farm families don't know how to deal with the unfair death tax_a tax that the president and congressional leaders have threatened to expand to include even more family farms and even more small businesses," he said.
Officials said any compromise was likely to ease the impact of the alternative minimum tax, originally designed to make sure that millionaires did not escape taxation. If left unchanged, it could hit an estimated 28 million households for the first time in 2013, with an average increase of more than $3,000.
Taxes on dividends and capital gains are also involved in the talks, as well as a series of breaks for businesses and others due to expire at the first of the year.
Obama and congressional Democrats are insisting on an extension of long-term unemployment benefits that are expiring for about 2 million jobless individuals.
Leaders in both parties also hope to prevent a 27 percent fee cut from taking effect on Jan. 1 for doctors who treat Medicare patients.
There was also discussion of a short-term extension of expiring farm programs, in part to prevent a spike in milk prices at the first of the year. It wasn't clear if that was a parallel effort to the cliff talks or had become wrapped into them.
Across-the-board spending cuts that comprise part of the cliff were a different matter.
Republicans say Boehner will insist that they will begin to take effect unless negotiators agreed to offset them with specified savings elsewhere.
That would set the stage for the next round of brinkmanship ? a struggle over Republican calls for savings from Medicare, Medicaid and other federal benefit programs.
The Treasury's ability to borrow is expected to expire in late winter or early spring, and without an increase in the $16.4 trillion limit, the government would face its first-ever default. Republicans have said they will use administration requests for an extension as leverage to win cuts in spending.
Ironically, it was just such a maneuver more than a year ago that set the stage for the current crisis talks over the fiscal cliff.

HONOLULU (AP) ? President Barack Obama will cut short his traditional Christmas holiday in Hawaii, planning to leave for Washington on Wednesday evening as he and lawmakers consider how to prevent the economy from going over the so-called fiscal cliff.
Obama was expected to arrive in Washington early Thursday, the White House said Tuesday night. First lady Michelle Obama and the couple's two daughters will remain in Hawaii.
In the past, the president's end-of-the-year holiday in his native state had stretched into the new year. The first family had left Washington last Friday night.
Congress was expected to return to Washington on Thursday. Before he departed for Hawaii, Obama told reporters he expected to be back in the capital the following week.
Automatic budget cuts and tax increases are set to begin in January, which many economists say could send the country back into recession. So far, the president and congressional Republicans have been unable to reach agreement on any alternatives.
Lawmakers have expressed little but pessimism for the prospect of an agreement coming before Jan. 1. On Sunday, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said she expects any action in the waning days of the year to be "a patch because in four days we can't solve everything."
The Obamas were spending the holiday at a rented home near Honolulu. On Christmas Day, the president and first lady visited with members of the military to express thanks for their service.
"One of my favorite things is always coming to base on Christmas Day just to meet you and say thank you," the president said at Marine Corps Base Hawaii's Anderson Hall. He said that being commander in chief was his greatest honor as president.
Obama took photos with individual service members and their families.
On Christmas Eve, Obama called members of the military to thank them for serving the nation, then joined his family for dinner, the White House said. The Obamas opened gifts Christmas morning, ate breakfast and sang carols.
Friends were joining the Obamas for Christmas dinner Tuesday night, the White House said.

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, even in Ohio.
A day after Christmas and Cleveland baseball fans are still savoring what they discovered under their tree; that Ohio born Nick Swisher is now a member of the their beloved Tribe.
While the Indians might not have landed a player with the explosive muscle of Josh Hamilton or the speed and power of B.J. Upton, they nonetheless snatched a productive hitter, a switch-hitter, who at age 32 plays decent defense, is great team player, and never shies away from taking ownership of his actions. As an added bonus to any big league organization, he'll be great for the community. Having just signed a fan favorite who was born in Columbus and is an Ohio State alum and you have an almost perfect free agent signing in Northeast Ohio.
Responding through an email, Associated Press baseball writer Ron Blum, tells me the Indians landed themselves a great guy, who is extremely friendly, nearly always makes himself available to the media and is additionally the ``chattiest person in the clubhouse.''
With the Yankees over the last four years gives, Swisher averaged 26 home runs and 87 RBI's during the regular season. Last season, he drove in 93 runs, belted 24 home runs and finished the year with a .272 batting average over 148 games.
Yankees beat writer for Newsday, Erik Boland, says that Swisher ``was a very productive player for his four years and the Yankees will struggle to replace the numbers he put up.'' As for his relationship with the media, Boland acknowledges Swisher is prone to occasional mood swings (who wouldn't with a mob of New York reporters at your throat for 162 games?) but is generally very good and likes to immerse himself with projects in the community. Two projects near and dear to his heart are military veterans and donating money (and hair) to cancer victims. His grandmother, Betty Swisher died of brain cancer on August 14th, 2005.
If there's a noticeable blemish on Swisher's portfolio, it is his lack of productivity in the post-season, where he struggled mightily, hitting just .162 in 36 games. His most productive game during the playoffs may have come in Game 3 of the 2009 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies when he homered, doubled and scored two runs in the New York Yankees' 8-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.
In addition to a highly seductive and financially alluring sales pitch from Indians GM Chris Antonetti and team president Mark Shapiro, Swisher found himself tripled teamed by the by the likes of Ohio State Buckeye football coach Urban Meyer, former Buckeye coach Jim Tressel and current Buckeye basketball coach Thad Matta, all of whom attempted to convince the former Buckeye that the transition from the Big Apple to Northeast Ohio would be as smooth as a peeled onion without the flood of tears.
The recruiting ensemble worked their magic brilliantly.
As first reported by Mark Feinsand of The New York Daily News, , Swisher agreed to a four-year, $56 million contract which calls for the former Yankee to earn $11 million next season and $15 million in each of the subsequent seasons through 2016; and if he reaches 550 plate appearances in 2016, the $14 million option automatically kicks in for 2017.
Swisher fills a mighty big hole for the Indians: patrolling right field, where he'll replace the reliable and productive Shin-Soo Choo who was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for center fielder Drew Stubbs, shortstop Didi Gregorius and infielder Jason Donald after the Indians failed to reach a contract extension with him during the year.
Recently retired New York Times columnist George Vecsey, though still a contributor, says that Swisher ``is a gamer, takes responsibility for the team with the media, and was not a liability in right field.''
For Cleveland fans unfamiliar with Swisher's rituals and body language at the plate, you'll want to notice how he raises his eyes skyward before every pitch. In fact, it's such a subtle gesture you barely notice it unless you're aware of the back story. Swisher lifting his eyes to the heavens is in honor of his grandparents who raised him in Parkersburg, W. Va since he was 11 years-old after his father, Steve Swisher, (a former major leaguer) and his mother Rebecca divorced. Swisher additionally has a tattoo emblazoned on his chest with angel's wings and a halo, not far from his heart with the initials "BLS," which stands for Betty Lorrain Swisher, his grandmother. It's a touching tribute to the woman Swisher once called the ``love of my life and an inspiration.'' Besides losing his grandmother in 2005, he lost his grandfather, Don, in November, 2008. Both of their initials are written on the bottom of the handle of all his bats, which he usually seals with a kiss just before steeping into the batter's box.
After playing college baseball for the Ohio State Buckeyes, (where he was named Big Ten "Freshman of the Year" in 2000, was All-Big Ten at first base as a sophomore in 2001 and earned All-Conference honors as an outfielder in 2002) Swisher was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2002 and made his major league debut on September 3, 2004, where he remained through the 2007 season. The 2006 season in Oakland was his most productive, smashing 35 home runs and driving in 95 runs, with a .372 on base percentage and a .493 slugging percentage. He spent the 2008 season with the Chicago White Sox, where he didn't mix well with his manager, the inflammable Ozzie Guillen, hitting just .219 with 24 home runs.
The Indians, by now, are well aware that in Swisher they're getting more than just a quality player with decent power; they also acquired a model citizen who prides himself in devoting a good chunk of his spare time to multiple community affairs and charitable organizations.
According to the New York Yankees media guide, beginning in 2007, Swisher established the Nick Swisher Foundation "Swish's Wishes" to assist children with life-threatening illnesses and to help lift the spirits of kids going through difficult times; during that same year, he went without a haircut for practically the entire year-so his hair could be made as wigs for women who have lost their hair to cancer treatments as part of the non-profit Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. His works of charity additionally extends to The Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), Hollywood's leading charity and the Women's Cancer Research Fund.
In 2009, the Ohio born Swisher provided Christmas dinner for the families of children battling cancer at the Ronald McDonald House in New York. Throughout his tours of duty in Oakland, Chicago and New York, Swisher regularly invited kids to the ballpark and purchased football uniforms for his junior high school. He once dyed his goatee pink on Mother's Day to raise awareness for breast cancer, and blue on Father's Day for prostate cancer. Nick and his wife, Joanna, have taken their community activities abroad as well, such as by visiting troops in a USO-sponsored trip to Germany and Afghanistan in November 2011, and participated in Strikeouts For Troops, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to wounded war veterans and their children.
In 2011, Swisher was the recipient of the Thurman Munson Award for his on-field excellence and community.
Swisher and his wife actress Joanna Garcia recently celebrated their second year wedding anniversary (December 11th) and are expecting their first child in May.

BAGHDAD (AP) ? Asiacell, one of Iraq's three mobile service providers, said Tuesday it is looking to raise $1.3 billion through what would be the country's biggest stock offering yet.
A successful floatation on Baghdad's low-volume stock exchange could reassure international investors, many of whom remain wary of the risky Iraqi market nearly a decade after the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
The company plans to offer 67.5 billion shares for at least 22 Iraqi dinars, or just under 2 cents, apiece when it launches the initial public offering on Jan. 3. Investors will have until Feb. 2 to submit orders for the shares.
"We're delighted to be able to provide the chance for all Iraqis to participate in our future by taking a stake in Asiacell," Managing Director Faruk Rasool said in a statement. "We're confident in our future as Iraq's mobile industry continues to grow."
The shares being offered represent a quarter of Asiacell's total share capital. The Gulf state of Qatar's government-backed Qatar Telecom owns 53.9 percent of Asiacell, which is based in the northern Iraqi Kurdish city of Sulaimaniyah.
A number of the company's founding shareholders will be cashing out at least part of their investment with the floatation.
Asiacell competes against Zain Iraq, part of Kuwait's Zain, and Korek, an affiliate of France Telecom.
The three companies are required to list shares on the stock exchange as a condition of their 15-year operating licenses, which cost $1.25 billion when they were acquired in 2007. All three missed a deadline in August 2011 to offer shares to the public.
Asiacell began offering cell phone service in Iraq's highly autonomous northern Kurdish region in 1999. Mobile phone services did not exist in the rest of Iraq until after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion that toppled the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein.
The company now boasts nearly 10 million subscribers and says its network covers 97 percent of Iraq's population.

2012 was a banner year for scumbags and skanks, making our task of curating the most deplorable for our annual round-up of bad behavior a breeze. So come all ye readers, and delight in our slideshow of meticulously selected cads.
This year we have golden boys that fell from grace, the ever-present lying, cheating politicians, and Internet louts, not to mention the disgraced and humiliated in the wide world of sports. May this refresher serve you well as you cozy up to your family this holiday season and think how truly blessed you are that some mistress isn?t stalking you and that your cousin isn?t Violentacrez (whew). Oh, and if we missed anyone, please let us know in the comments. Some years, there are just too many cads to keep track!
Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson may be back together, but we can?t just forgive and forget. This past summer, US Weekly published photos of the Twilight starlet cheating on her boyfriend and co-star with her married director, Rupert Sanders. All hell broke loose. Stewart tried to contain the Twihard outrage with numerous public apologies, while Sanders, father of two, pretty much slipped under the rage radar. They both make our list?for causing so many tween tears and for ruining the K-Stew/R-Patz fantasy.
Remember in 2009 when Chris Brown assaulted his girlfriend Rihanna, and the world gasped collectively at the leaked images of Rihanna?s injured face? Well Brown hasn?t exactly been on an apology tour since then. Three weeks ago, he tweeted to comedian Jenny Johnson: ?take them teeth out when u Sucking my dick HOE.? More from Twitter: Rihanna?s recent tweets indicate the two are back together. They also collaborated on a song called, ?Ain?t Nobody?s Business,? though their saga continues to be everybody?s.
Violentacrez aka Michael Brutsch
Known as the ?Biggest Troll on the Web,? Reddit user Violentacrez became Internet-famous for creating Jailbait, a section of the popular social news site where users posted images of underaged girls. He was also the brainchild behind Creepshots?another ?sub-reddit,? which collected close-ups of women?s breasts and butts, covertly shot in public?and just generally spent a ton of time on Reddit for the sole purpose of pissing people off with racist, anti-Semitic, and sexist comments. We thought he might hit the road after Gawker?s Adrian Chen exposed his identity as the perverted yet oddly vanilla Michael Brutsch, but his recently fired self still roams Reddit to collect donations for his plight and defend himself. Oh, and he?s looking for a new job in the porn industry.
Joining the rather sizable club of hypocritical politicians this year was Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-Tenn.): His sordid past, which came to light during his 2012 campaign, includes (to name a few) several extramarital relationships with his patients when he was a physician, allegedly exhibiting ?violent and threatening behavior? toward his ex-wife, and claiming an anti-abortion stance while asking his mistress to get an abortion after he knocked her up. Perhaps the most depressing part of this story? He won re-election.
While Rush Limbaugh spews a lot of dirtbag-level junk, he hit a particular nerve in February with his comments about Sandra Fluke, calling her a ?slut? and ?prostitute? for appearing before the House to gain support for contraceptive coverage. Or, as Jezebel wrote, ?The talking butthole that replaced Rush Limbaugh's face decades ago is making sounds again.? Despite the growing criticism across party lines, Limbaugh continued to antagonize Fluke until he finally offered an elliptical, faux-apology months later, only to retract it after learning Fluke was being considered for Time?s person of the year.
Lance Armstrong could be (and has been!) called many things. We decided ?cad? should be one of them for?as a colleague put it??tricking a nation that was in love with him.? Once a hero of sports and life, gaining the admiration and wrists of millions for his post-cancer Tour de France triumph, U.S. News named Armstrong one of their top 10 losers in 2012 after he was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping. ?We cheered for the young man who gave us a best-case scenario of what life might be after cancer,? wrote Elaine Schattner for the Atlantic. ?His influence was pervasive, and that's why it matters so much that he misled millions.?
The Generals: David Petraeus, John Allen, Jeffrey Sinclair
To speak in generous terms, the military did not have a great PR year: The documentary The Invisible War detailed the military?s rape problem as allegations of sexual assault continued to make headlines. Then came the Petraeus scandal that would not quit. While we?ve included Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair in our trio, his alleged actions rise way above cad-level, featuring charges of raping his subordinate officers, forcible sodomy, and threatening women who refused to have sex with him. But as far as we know (it?s all still such a warped, tangled mess), David Petraeus, the now ex-director of the CIA who had an affair with his biographer Paula Broadwell, and Gen. John Allen, who seemed to have a rather unusual email relationship with the married Jill Kelley, hit the mark.
After getting fired from the University of Arkansas, football coach Bobby Petrino recently landed a job at Western Kentucky University. Congratulations, Bobby! It?s a tough job market, you know, especially for someone who got himself sacked for having an affair with a former Arkansas student. Not content to just sleep with Jessica Dorrell, Petrino also hired her as a student-athlete development coordinator, and gave her a wad of cash totaling $20,000 for Christmas. The whole affair came to light after Petrino got into a motorcycle accident with Dorrell in tow, and then lied and said he was riding alone. Classy all around.
We hesitate to even put Hunter Moore on our list, because Hunter Moore exists for attention. Moore?s claim to fame is the now shuttered ?revenge porn? website, Is Anyone Up?, where scorned lovers could post naked photos of their exes. After blessedly going away for a time, he is now back, promising a new site with much of his old formula, plus a stalker-friendly mapping feature with the addresses of his personal enemies. Salon interviewed him and was somewhat disappointed: ?There was nothing shocking about his?talk of ?gross, green vaginas? or his admitted lack of morals?at one point I actually caught myself yawning,? wrote Tracy Clark-Flory. May we forget him by this time next year.
The Sex Tape Scandal of the Year goes to pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan. The video, made six years ago, surfaced a few month back on Gawker and is of Hogan and the wife (now ex-wife, Heather Clem) of his former friend, Bubba the Love Sponge, who supposedly encouraged the two to get it on. (Bubba: Also a cad.) According to Hogan, his wife at the time, Linda, also wanted him to sleep with Clem. Linda tells a different story. In an interview with Access Hollywood, she said she was hurt and shocked by the news of the sex tape. So, lesson here on what not to do if a sex tape of you cheating on your wife becomes public: blame your wife for coercing you to have sex with another woman. It is highly unlikely people will take your side. I have not heard a soul say, ?Team Hogan.?
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has made some mistakes. He slept with a woman, Louise Neathway, who wasn?t his wife. She then blackmailed him by threatening to go public with their affair if he didn?t divorce his wife. Neathway is now charged with harassing Cashman?s wife and his other ex-mistresses. She also asked him for money, allegedly saying she needed it to ?to fund medical treatment after an aborted pregnancy prosecutors say never happened.? Cashman?s wife filed for divorce in February and Neathway awaits trial. If Fatal Attraction had not already been made, perhaps Cashman could sell his story. Instead, he?ll have to settle for making our list.

The day after multiple reports emerged that Jets quarterback Tim Tebow tapped out of the Wildcat package because he wasn?t picked to be the starter in Week 16, the effort continues to put the toothpaste back in the tube.
On Sunday, Tebow was asked why he didn?t appear in the alternative offense, which instead saw receiver Jeremy Kerley taking snaps.? ?It just kind of happens,? Tebow said.
On Monday, after multiple sources said that Tebow had specifically asked for it to happen after he was told he wouldn?t be starting, Tebow didn?t address the question of whether he had asked to be left out of the Wildcat package in an interview with ESPN?s Adam Schefter.
Now, coach Rex Ryan has tackled the topic while evading the one key piece of information in which everyone is interested.? According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Ryan chose not to share the details of his communications with Tebow.
And all that that implies.
?I?ve been transparent and all that stuff without question, but I?m not going to give you a private conversation that I would have with a player,? Ryan said in a conference call with reporters.? ?That?s between him and I.? If he wants to share whatever the conversation is ? Tim or anybody else ? that?s up to him.?
Ryan is treading on delicate ground, given that he and Tebow are both represented by the same agent, CAA?s Jimmy Sexton.? As a result, Ryan will say nothing publicly that damages Tebow?s carefully-cultivated team-first-team-only-thank-you-sir-may-I-have-another fa?ade.
?If I would have asked Tim to play in anything,? Ryan said.? ?Tim would have gone into the game and done that.?
Right.? If Ryan would have asked.? But that overlooks the question of whether Tebow had asked Ryan not to ask.
While some have suggested (including Peter King, in the video appearing below) that Tebow?s position was understandable given the manner in which he has been jerked around by the Jets, Tebow has tried for years to make us think that he?s the kind of guy who never would make such a request due to frustration regarding his role.? And for the Tebow skeptics out there who believe that much of who he is and what he is has been carefully orchestrated and manipulated, Sunday?s reports reflect the most significant and tangible proof that there?s a man behind the curtain who is far more flawed and far more human than the image that Tebow?s camp has been selling.
At this point, Tebow?s best move would be to admit it.

(Embargoed) CHAPEL HILL, N.C. In research published online Dec. 23, 2012 in the journal Nature Genetics, scientists have found three new and relatively rare genetic variants that influence insulin production, offering new clues about the genetic factors behind diabetes..
"Studying genetic variants even rare ones helps us learn how genes affect health and disease," said Karen Mohlke, PhD, one of the study's senior authors and associate professor of genetics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. "In this study, we've implicated new genes as playing a role in insulin processing and secretion."
The study is also the first time genetic insights have been reported using exome array genotyping, a new tool that is less costly than genetic sequencing. This analysis allows scientists to quickly screen DNA samples for known variants in specific genes. It is especially helpful for testing variants that are rare.
"The exome array allowed us to test a large number of individuals in this case, more than 8,000 people very efficiently," said Mohlke. "We expect that this type of analysis will be useful for finding low-frequency variants associated with many complex traits, including obesity or cancer."
The scientists pulled data from a large health study directed by researchers at the University of Eastern Finland. A research team including postdoctoral scientist Jeroen Huyghe at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor led the statistical analysis, which integrated genetic data and detailed health records for a sample of 8,229 Finnish males.
Diabetes, which affects more than 25 million people in the United States, results from problems with the body's ability to produce or use insulin. Rather than pinpointing one gene behind the disease, scientists believe there are a whole host of genes that interact with health and lifestyle factors to influence a person's chances of getting the disease.
The study revealed that certain variants of three genes called TBC1D30, KANK1 and PAM are associated with abnormal insulin production or processing, even in people without diabetes. The genes may predispose such individuals to developing the disease.
As a next step, the researchers plan to continue to investigate how these genes may lead to diabetes. They also expect the results will inspire other scientists to use exome analysis to look at the genetic factors behind other complex diseases.
###
In addition to Mohlke, the study's co-Principal Investigators included Michael Boehnke, PhD, of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Markku Laakso, MD, of the University of Eastern Finland and Kuopio University Hospital.
In the U.S., funding for the research came from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), components of the National Institutes of Health.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Two senators predicted Sunday that former Sen. Chuck Hagel would face a difficult confirmation if nominated by President Barack Obama to be defense secretary.
Sen. Joe Lieberman, a Connecticut independent who's retiring and wouldn't have a vote, cited Hagel's less-than-hawkish positions on Iran. Lieberman told CNN's "State of the Union" that it would be "a very tough confirmation process," and "there are reasonable questions to ask and that Chuck Hagel will have to answer."
On NBC's "Meet the Press," Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said it would be "a challenging nomination."
"I don't think he's going to get many Republican votes," Graham said.
Hagel, 66, is considered the leading candidate to replace Leon Panetta at the Pentagon, although a number of GOP senators have expressed reservations about a nomination. Their concerns largely center on Hagel's past comments about Israel and Iran. Outside groups have suggested that based on Hagel's remarks, he isn't sufficiently supportive of Israel, an important ally in the Middle East.
Opponents point to his votes against sanctions on Iran and letters that Hagel signed, along with ones he declined to add his name to, many of those favored by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the powerful pro-Israel lobby. In August 2006, Hagel refused to sign a letter pressing the European Union to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization, one of 12 senators who balked. In 2007, he sent a letter to Bush urging talks with Iran.
Hagel, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, has favored diplomacy over military action with Iran, and criticized talk of a strike by either the United States or Israel against Iran.
Lieberman said sanctions are the only way to change Tehran's behavior "short of war." Lieberman said that Hagel had "some very outlying votes" against economic penalties on Iran over its nuclear program.
Georgia Republican U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson said on ABC's "This Week" that he'll "reserve any judgment until after the hearings we have on confirmation if in fact he is nominated." Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., was non-committal about Hagel, saying she'll see "what happens with these hearings."
Hagel once made reference to the "Jewish lobby" in the United States, a comment that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., called "inappropriate."
"There's no such thing as a Jewish lobby," McCain said. "There's an Armenian lobby, there's not a Jewish lobby. There's an Israeli lobby. It's called AIPAC, very influential."
At least two other candidates remain under serious consideration ? former Pentagon policy chief Michele Flournoy and Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter.

Aerobic fitness training exercises can play a major role in helping you to lose weight. If you are not properly motivated to continue your fitness routine, you are more likely to give it up before it has the chance to begin working. Exercise can be interesting, fun, and something that you are drawn to. You need only look in the right places. There?s no rulebook that says you can?t have fun while working out. If you keep a positive attitude, you?ll find plenty of ways to keep your workouts entertaining. Use these ideas to improve your mindset and start on your path to success.
Play some of your favorite tunes while exercising. Dancing is a wonderful way to get up and get moving. Music makes exercise more enjoyable. Some people associate music with dancing, and music can trick the mind into thinking you are dancing, not exercising. You will not even notice how tired or sore your muscles are when you are enjoying yourself. Music can really boost your motivation to finish up those last few reps.
TIP! If you want pancake-flat, carved-up lower abs and a razor-sharp V-cut, consider The Lower Abs Trifecta your little secret weapon. Comprised of 3 different ab exercises back-to-back, it?ll absolutely demolish your lower abs and leave you sore for days.
You should incorporate workout video games into your exercise regimen. This will help turn your thoughts to playing the game and away from the exercises that you have to do. By directing your focus to the fun you are having, you will forget that you are actually working out, and you won?t get tired!
Invest in clothes that make you feel good about yourself. Well-fitting and attractive workout clothes are a great motivator. Workout apparel and gear come in every style, color, and pattern imaginable, so you can express yourself and have a unique fitness wardrobe. You can easily get creative when putting together an exercise outfit. Having workout gear that you are happy with will help you to get the motivation to exercise.
TIP! You want me to do something? tell me I can?t do it. -Maya Angelou
Give your 100% to a fitness program, set a personal goal and get yourself a gift that you had been waiting on for a long time. This will help you keep focused on your weight loss plan. The rewards can be modest, like a new pair of shoes or a dessert you have been craving. Your reward has to be something that will assist you with motivation. If you don?t look forward to your reward, you may not keep following your fitness goal. It is imperative that you retain your motivation in your quest to lose weight.
